Why take the Cleerly CAD PRS Test?

The Cleerly CAD PRS Test, manufactured by Allelica, provides information about genetic variants associated with coronary artery disease (CAD) risk and individuals with elevated genetic risk, including some whose traditional risk factors do not indicate increased risk.

The test can help identify whether you carry genetic variants associated with an increased risk of CAD, providing information that may be considered by you and your healthcare provider alongside other clinical risk factors.

CAD PRS is a genetic test that looks at a large number of genetic variants in your DNA which are combined to estimate your relative genetic risk for CAD. Results are intended to be interpreted in the context of other clinical and lifestyle risk factors and are not intended to diagnose CAD or predict whether an individual will experience a cardiovascular event. The test may provide additional risk information that can support discussions with your healthcare provider about cardiovascular health and risk management.

Is this the right test for me?

This test is intended for adults seeking additional information about their risk for CAD. Genetic risk information may provide insights beyond those obtained from certain traditional cardiovascular risk factors and assessments.

Understanding your results

The CAD PRS Test identifies your personal risk of CAD based on your genetics. Your report will indicate one of two results:

What should I do if my result is not elevated or borderline?

If your result is not elevated or borderline, further discussion with your doctor may be needed to determine the right plan for you.

What should I do if I am at high risk?

Individuals with a high PRS for CAD can talk with their doctors to consider cardiovascular risk management strategies, which may include:

  • Proactive care before symptoms appear
  • Lifestyle modification
  • Dietary modification
  • Initiation of lipid-lowering therapeutics (e.g. statins)

You can’t change your genetic risk, but you can take steps to lower other risk factors. You may be able to modify other cardiovascular risk factors through lifestyle and medical management in consultation with a healthcare provider. Reviewing results with a healthcare provider may help inform discussions about overall cardiovascular risk and prevention planning.

Ordering the test

The Cleerly CAD PRS Test must be ordered by a doctor or licensed healthcare provider. Ask your doctor about PRS testing during your visit or for convenient at-home testing options.
